Dear colleagues and interested parties,
We are pleased to invite you to our final conference: “One Year Transnational Social Services – Project Results of Bulgarian-German Perspectives on EU-Migration“ organised in the framework of the Erasmus+ project Transnational Social Services (TSS).
We are a cooperation of Diakonie Hamburg and the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, as well as the Bulgarian-Romanian Trans-border Mediation Institute (BTRMI) and the Institute for Population Research (IPHS) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Bulgaria.
The TSS project has worked for one year on bringing together institutions and experts from Bulgaria and Germany, on sounding out needs, on building capacities in the social systems and policies in both countries, on sharing their experiences in supporting mobile EU citizens, and, finally, on promoting the networking of counsellors.
For our final conference we want to look at the perception and the impact of migration from Bulgaria to Germany from the perspectives of the two countries. We invited Marina Liakova (University of Karlsruhe) and Linka Toneva-Metodieva (Trust for Social Achievement) to share their research and experiences:
How is emigration and return perceived in Bulgaria? And what effect does this migration have on both the countries? What are the social implications and what are political reactions to it?
In the second part we want to share and discuss with you the insights we gained through the TSS project – the meetings and conferences and discuss how these can be useful to support safe mobility.

Online event: You can participate online via a link we will provide shortly before the event. The event is in Bulgarian with simultaneous German translation.
